Dinamikjaya Motors Sdn Bhd, the new sole distributor for the Kia brand in Malaysia announced the All-New Kia Carnival is now available, with a starting price of RM196,340.80.
The all-new Kia Carnival, the fourth generation of the brand’s flagship minivan, has been designed to appeal to progressive young families, with a leading combination of innovation, flexibility, and style. The fourth-generation model boasts a design evolution and builds on its predecessors’ heritage with a more architectural sense of solidity and an upgraded appearance that draws on the overcharging design ethos that links all of Kia’s cars design identity. Matched with highly detailed, futuristic details and SUV-inspired design elements, the all-new model brings a stronger, more stylish presence to the mid-sized MPV segment.
The all-new Carnival features a shorter front overhang, with the base of the A-pillar moved backwards to create a longer hood. Its increased wheelbase also contributes to greater space throughout the cabin, while giving the car a longer, slightly more athletic silhouette. The result is a side profile that reveals the Carnival’s more dynamic DNA.
This is emphasized by a simple yet bold character line which runs along the length of the car, linking the front and rear lamps. Beneath this clear line, the Carnival features a more prominent sense of volume to its bodywork, with bold wheel arches and sharp lines along the body giving it a more sculpted appearance. The all-new model features a unique ‘island roof’ design, with blacked-out A- and B-pillars supporting the body-colored roof. From the side, one of the new car’s stand-out features is an eye-catching new C-pillar signature design, inspired by that of the new Sorento. The chrome fin, which wraps beneath the tapered rear windows and extends towards the tailgate, is finished with a subtle diamond pattern that is also reflected throughout the inside of the car.
The Carnival features a new ‘tiger face’ which extends across the width of the vehicle. This confident, more futuristic face seamlessly integrates the lamps with Kia’s iconic ‘tiger-nose’ grille. Kia’s designers have dubbed this ‘symphonic architecture’, with the design of the front bringing together a range of detailed, technical features to create a sense of harmony and structural energy. The grille and lamps are defined by their high-tech, high-precision details, with chrome trim above the grille and forming its own character line around the face of the car. The castellated edge of the upper grille is paired with perpendicular creases which extend straight up the hood, creating a more purposeful look when viewed head-on.
The Carnival’s headlamps and LED daytime running lights (DRLs) form a unique light signature. The high-beam lamps are integrated into the corner of the tiger-nose grille, with the low-beam lamps sitting separately, at the outer edges of the front of the car. Between them, the DRLs wrap around the Carnival’s turn signal lamps, then plunge downwards, merging with the grille’s lower chrome border. Beneath, the sculpted bumpers and lower air intake are matched with metallic trim and a black lower bumper, presenting the Carnival’s robust, SUV-inspired appearance.
At the rear, the Carnival boasts a wide, distinctive new design which uses full-width lines to emphasize the car’s sense of solidity. These lines include the sleek combination lamps, which echo the same details as the DRLs at the front of the car, integrated into a full-width light. The light bar connects visually to a sharp, sculpted line which extends downwards and wraps around the license plate. Above the light bar is a chrome line, which starts at the base of the new signature C-pillar and wraps around the base of the rear screen. Beneath the light bar, highlight lines extend across the tailgate to raise the visual center of gravity of the rear of the car. Further enhancing its SUV-inspired design, the Carnival is finished off with a metallic lower skid plate, elevating the car further and giving it a more robust appearance.
Within, the Carnival’s sleek design elements and quality materials come together to create a refined and sophisticated interior space. The center fascia takes on a premium image with high-gloss black surfaces. A chrome garnish runs the length of the dash to create a sense of space and openness in the forward cabin. Integrated slim metal air vents are a modern touch.
In addition to the Carnival’s elevated interior styling, the all-new MPV offers plenty of space for 11-passenger flexibility, offering comfort for long trips.
The Carnival also offers a roster of special and innovative features to make travel easier, safer, and more enjoyable. These features include Smart Power Sliding doors and Smart Power Liftgate, Smart Key with one-button open/close functionality for rear sliding doors and liftgate. Other standard interior features include a class leading 12.3-inch High-resolution LCD Touchscreen Infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Wireless smartphone charging and multi-Bluetooth connectivity and up to seven USB ports.
In terms of the vehicle body structure, the all-new Kia Carnival is built based on the all-new 3rd generation “N3” platform that is lighter, stronger and quieter. Key improvement areas include the expanded use of hot-stamped parts and ultra-high-strength steel for increased average tensile strength and torsional stiffness that result in better driving dynamics. Greater application of sound absorbing and insulating materials to minimize road, wind, and engine noise. Aerodynamic improvements to wheels, front bumper, and mirrors to achieve better fuel economy.
As part of Kia’s overall commitment to safety, the Kia Carnival comes with a host of standard safety and advanced safety features. Standard safety technologies in the all-new Carnival includes 7 SRS Airbags (Front Driver & Passenger, Driver Knee, Side and Curtain), Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control System (TCS), Multi-Collision Brake Control (MCB), ISOFIX Child Restraint Anchor Points and Top Tethers as well as Hill-start Assist Control (HAC).
In terms of advanced safety, the Kia Carnival comes equipped with Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW) and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Avoidance Assist (RCCA). For the BCW, under certain conditions, can detect vehicles traveling in the next lane. Whereas for RCCA, the system helps detect most approaching cross traffic when in reverse. When approaching cross traffic is detected, the system alerts the driver.
The all-new Carnival features comes equipped with a 2.2L Turbo Diesel Engine mated to a 8-speed automatic transmission, controlled by an electronic shifter. The 2.2L engine produces 199 horsepower at 3,800 RPM and 440 Nm of torque from just 1,750 – 2,750 RPM. It offers smooth, linear acceleration and a premium performance driving feel.
The all-new Kia Carnival is currently CBU from South Korea. The colour line-up includes Astra Blue, Silky Silver, Aurora Black Pearl, Snow White Pearl, Panthera Metal and Flare Red; making a total of 6 colours available.
